I'm Stephane, "Stef" from Brittany, North West France. I'm short wave listener (SWL). The SWLs are radio enthusiasts but only in reception. Like the DXers, they build antennas, constantly improve their receiving station, work DX and collect DXCC / Divisions from all over the word. Your QSL or eQSL is precious !

My receiver

On the 11 meters band, I use a receiver ICOM R75 and a SDR receiver, the Airspy HF+ Discovery with SDR Sharp software. The 11 m.'s band is very disturbed here by solar panels, PLC ... etc. The noise level is very heavy, particulary between 27.520 and 27.900 MHz (noise level at - 85 dB for an average noise level on the band at - 110 dB / - 105 dB). The "Base Band noise blanker" of SDR Sharp is really magic to eliminate the noise. The noise level is about - 105 dB after the filter switching on. The filters and the noise blankers on my others receivers are not as effective.

My antenna

On the 11 m.'s band, I use my main antenna which is a long wire end feed of 37,5 m. at about 7 m. hight. The antenna is about 3 lambda of lenght, so it has probably some gain on 11 m.'s band. I can use also a vertical antenna on ground of 6,5 m long.

QSL & eQSL

You have received a SWL's QSL or eQSL and you don't know how to reply ? Your QSL or eQSL is not designed for the SWL's reports ? This is not a problem !

Here is how to complete your QSL or eQSL so that it will be valid to confirm the report of the SWL:

On his QSL or eQSL, the SWL wrote the station you worked. So, you can check your log and verify the reality of the report. If all is OK, you can send him your QSL or eQSL to confirm the report.

You must write the SWL callsign in the "To Radio" / "Confirming QSO with" box and not the station you contacted's callsign. To avoid the confusion with a 2 X QSO, you can cancel out the word "QSO", "2 way" and/or add "SWL", "SWL report", "HRD". You can also write the station contacted's callsign in the box "R/S" or write "SWL report" in this box. Of course, all others datas are also important, date, hour, band and mode.

You can send your eQSL via ClusterDX.nl or via LF11 or send it directly via email. If you don't have eQSL, simply scan your paper QSL or take a pic with your smartphone. Just add the parameters of the QSO on it with Paint or another drawing software.

Please, take few seconds to send to me your eQSL. I hope to get it ; it will be really appreciated. You can see (e)QSL received by divisions here. My QSL, my eQSLemail1, my eQSLemail2, my eQSLcluster.
